On the eve of the 24th,A merchant arrives at the Belladonna estate; the door already unlocked for him. He brings with him soil, herbs and ingredients to replenish the medicine handed out within the apothecary. A simple errand for one new to this side of the trade,The old merchant who once handled these deliveries vanished weeks ago, and none knew of his fate. In haste to avoid a delay in their schedule, the novice was sent to fill in the role of restocking their patron’s shelves.

Though he finishes quite quickly, leaving the items by the couch within the entryway, he could not help but get curious. There was an allure to the open hallway leading to the basement. Stepped into the dim lobby, the indoor garden alive with life, the bar sits empty yet neatly stocked, and the seating glimmers as if awaiting guests. It should have been a routine exchange.Yet that was not what transpired.

Within hours from his visit, the door left unlocked and within the basement, by the garden left a scene that needs to be scrubbed clean.A body laid cold, lifeless with its blood seeping between the stones. Within its grasp was a small vial overturned, empty and dry. The iron tang of blood and the stench of decay permeate from the deceased. Joining the pile of gore are leaves plucked from the numerous plants scattered along the floor, some cut in half and others still whole. There’s a flimsy trail of aether emanating from the corpse, mingling with the dust motes, leaving an acrid tang in the air.

The staff flit around the body, curious, and in wonder. One among them is the hand that dealt the merchant’s end; but who?And why?
